The tragedy came as a report from a former Australian military officer revealed the navy is now considering ways to make the Navy's vessels safer by improving the use of thermal imaging, which uses infrared light to reveal hidden objects.

"In the past, we thought we could protect Australian warships using infrared (light)," said the report by Major General Richard Williams, a former defence chief of staff.

"We thought we could build thermal imaging and do so without going to sea or causing any damage to our ships. That has no place in a modern navy.

"It's something that was recommended by the secretary (of defence) and he is taking these steps.

"What we are looking at is the ability of the Navy to use infrared light as a form of protection," Dr Williams told radio station 2GB's Live Talk Breakfast.

"Trying to protect Australian warships using infrared should not just be a hobby that the Navy does all the time, it should be a core component of the navy."

It comes as the former US president says the US will not hesitate to send warships to the Middle East.

"A large number of my generals would agree that we've got more of an interest in the Middle East than in any other region of the globe except Russia," Barack Obama told an audience at an economic forum.

In the search for planets, a deep space probe may have discovered a "plastic giant," the largest object capable of forming a planet orbiting a star. The probe, the Keck II Telescope at Mauna Kea Observatory in Hawaii, was launched in 1995. Keck II had six instruments: an imager, a spectrometer, a spectrophotometer and two x-ray and one gamma ray scanners. Keck II will measure the amount of dust and other particles in our solar system over the next four years as it passes between the sun and the moon, and will scan for evidence of life, perhaps even life-bearing organisms.

Installation

If you want to configure a small cluster for your project, you can clone the repository into your personal system of choice:

$ git clone https://github.com/briarz/hcl-v5.git hcl-v5 $ cd hcl-v5

After cloning, run

$ sh -c 'csh -Uv /bin/sh"'

The commands above will execute any builtin sh as shown below

Once installed, run

$ wget http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/nsswitch-5/Software/configuration/install/sh.sh./hcl-v5 $ sudo./hcl-v5 -l

Now you can test that everything is working correctly!

Testing a cluster in Linux

Install the required modules.

$ sudo pip install -U nsswitch_config

Install the nsswitch config file from the repository.

$ wget http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/nsswitch-5/Software/installation/install.sh./hcl-v5 $ sudo./hcl-v5 -l

You now can use the configuration as well as the nsswitch.

$./hcl-v5 -l /proc/sys/kernel/sched_cmd $ /usr/share/sysconfig/nsswitch /sys/kernel/sched_cmd
